Our Journey

I became a dog trainer and started White Wolf Dog Training in Reading, Berkshire  after a really challenging and difficult experience with my own dog seven years ago.  When my wife and I decided to get our family pet dog, we did all the research.  I read several books before even beginning to look for a puppy. We had a German Shepherd dog, before so decided to get another.

We found a wonderful family breeder and met all the puppies early, at 5 weeks old. We choose Leo who was rather shy but engaging. We joined our local NBAGSD (British Association for German Shepherd Dogs) club and started weekly training sessions when he was 10 weeks old. I continued to read and research as I wanted Leo to be the perfect companion.  Everything seemed to go well until he was about 7 months old.

As he hit adolescence he stopped coming back when called and ran off to play when in the park.  He would not follow my instructions and pulled like crazy on the lead all the time.  I was very alarmed, and hit the books again as well as YouTube, and even signed up for some online courses.  Nothing worked. In fact he got worse! He started reacting to other male dogs, with a few scuffles ending in aggression.

I was worried, embarrassed and felt humiliated.  I thought I had done everything right and followed all the most up to date advice. I started taking him out late at night when no-one was around.  Luckily, I met an amazing behavioural trainer who over 2-3 months helped me to redefine my relationship with Leo and implement a routine that worked on our relationship and on meeting both our needs.  Leo was transformed, and, with a lot of hard work, became the dog we always dreamed of.  I continued my learning (every day is a learning day for me), and even qualified as Kennel Club approved dog trainer. I still run dog training classes at the Reading branch of the British Association for German Shepherds (BAGSD) Club, and in November 2025 I started White Wolf Dog Training, so I could help other families like me.   My aim is to help anyone who feels like I did, and I will show you, in a few weeks, how to totally transform your relationship with your dog.  You can have the dog you always wanted, that you can take anywhere. The dog that you deserve.

Meet the Trainer

We've always believed that a dog's behaviour is a reflection of the bond they share with their human.  Our journey into specialised dog training began with a passion for understanding the complex needs of reactive dogs who respond with aggression or fear when they encounter other dogs, animals or even people, and the unique temperament of German Shepherds. By focusing on relationship-centered methods, we help owners transform frustration into clear communication and trust. With a foundation built on patience and expertise, we guide you through personalised sessions designed to address your dog's specific challenges. Whether you're navigating reactivity or seeking to harness the potential of a brilliant breed, or just struggling with being pulled down the street every time you go for a walk, we are here to support you every step of the way in building a life of harmony together.

The Shepherd Bond

I met Mischa recently and have just completed my second training session, with many more already booked—my choice, not his suggestion.

I have a large 11-month-old German Shepherd called Ranger, and even after these first sessions I’ve seen a dramatic improvement in him. We’re currently working through an obedience programme with the intention of progressing to advanced training for professional working purposes.

Mischa’s training is second to none. One of the things I appreciate most is that the focus isn’t just on training the dog—it’s on building the relationship between the dog and the handler. We’ve been working on play, engagement, impulse control and relaxed lead walking, all of which will form the foundation for reliable off-lead work in the future.

Mischa is easy to get on with, down to earth and clearly passionate about what he does. He has a real talent not only for training dogs but also for teaching the people handling them, which is just as important.

I’m looking forward to continuing our work together and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend White Wolf Dog Training to anyone, whether they’re looking for basic obedience or more advanced working dog training.
